Busboys And Poets In Washington, D.C.

Today marks the beginning of our family’s college tour for our youngest son. Our first stop was the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. What better way to kick off our tour than with a fabulous vegan brunch at a cool hipster urban restaurant?

Busboys and Poets, located at 2021 14th Street NW (near V Street) in Washington, D.C., delivered such an experience and we were all thrilled to find this non-vegan establishment with great vegan options. The atmosphere was “happening” and the food was terrific. There was also an attached bookstore and a separate area to hang out and have coffee.

Busboys and Poets is a Global Exchange Fair Trade Store and is “greening their menu.” Although they are not an all-vegan establishment, they serve local/organic produce, cage-free eggs, grass-fed kosher beef and Halal chicken.

I loved the cover of their brunch menu showing photos of the “great ones” such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.

My vegan “egg scramble” made with tofu and mixed veggies was delicious. The vegan sausage served on the side was the best I’ve ever had. My husband’s vegan “egg wrap” made with tofu, mixed veggies, vegan bacon and vegan cheese was equally delicious. Did I mention the home fries? Now I did. To die for.

In any event, this is the first time I am posting from my I Pad and it has been an absolute nightmare for me; so, the possibility exists that I may not be blogging for the remainder of the college visiting trip. However, I still highly recommend that you stop in at the wonderful Busboys And Poets if you happen to be in the Washington, D.C. area.

    • So far, we are really enjoying our trip. We all loved Washington DC and Nikki is lucky to be able to visit there so easily from Maryland if she wishes to do so. We really liked “Busboys and Poets” too!
