One of my husband’s co-workers came across an advertisement for a fabulous-looking, plant-based weekend at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York which is scheduled to take place on April 12-14, 2013. I really wish I could go with my husband, but it would be too difficult for us to find weekend arrangements for our teenage son. We also don’t want to risk the possibility of turning our home into the scenario depicted in the movie “Risky Business” by leaving for a weekend. However, this does not preclude any of you from missing this wonderful opportunity.

As previously mentioned, this amazing weekend will be happening at the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House which is located only 90 miles north of New York City. My brother and my good friend and co-blogger, Ellen, both visited there and absolutely loved it! The weekend will include cooking and tasting demonstrations by the wonderful Nava Atlas, author of Wild About Greens, whose website VegKitchen is an awesome resource for vegan recipes. Nava’s classic mushroom-barley soup is my family’s absolute favorite! Chef Fran Costigan (author of More Great Good Dairy-Free Desserts) will also be giving a demonstration and tasting of her irresistible chocolate vegan desserts, and Leslie Cerier, “The Organic Gourmet,” will be cooking gluten-free. The weekend will also be filled with music and wine tasting from the award-winning Whitecliff Vineyard.
