VAP’s Top 5 Picks: A Vegan Week In Review

It’s finally Friday, and I spent a busy week of surfing, blogging, tweeting, pinning, facebooking and instagramming some amazing articles, photographs and recipes. Since this was such an extraordinary week filled with vegan news, podcasts, recipes and other vegan goodies, I decided to share some of my favorites.

Here are VAP’s Top 5 Picks For A Vegan Week In Review…

1. Brendan Brazier’s article in U.S. News & World Report Health entitled A Plant-Based Diet for a Competitive Edge

Ironman Triathlete Brendan Brazier

Ironman Triathlete Brendan Brazier

In this enthralling article, Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier discusses 7 Reasons to Choose a Plant-Based Diet for athletic performance. I was surprised to learn that Brendan considered himself to be an “average” athlete at an early age, anticipating that he would have to “work harder and smarter” than others to offset his lack of athletic ability enough to make sports an occupation. He shifted towards a clean, plant-based diet to increase his odds of having a professional career as an athlete. His dietary choice clearly worked because Brendan Brazier forged a stunning 7-year profession as an Ironman triathlete.

5. Our Hen House Podcast Episode 188: “Outrage Is the Nutrient Of Activism” featuring comedian, TV Host, and “Jackass” star Steve-O

images-1Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan’s Podcast Episode 188 on Our Hen House is nothing short of brilliant. In this episode, Jasmin and Mariann discuss the latest examples of “brain-dead behavior” from various members of the meat industrial complex, their film shoot for their upcoming video “A Vegan Taste of Chinatown,” and the meanings behind the words “vegan, hypocrisy, and super special kale juice.” However, the highlight of the podcast was hearing comedian, TV host, and “Jackass” star Steve-O talk about his vegan evolution, why he’s a passionate vegan, and why some angry comments he received changed him forever.

    • The Blossom Restaurant is sort of a vegan empire in NYC. Andrew will love the Blossom Restaurant in Chelsea too, and Blossom On Carmine is fabulous! Thanks for reading!
